Operation and Performance

The cordless 14-inch mower is designed for smaller yards, with a battery that runs for up to 30 minutes or 6,000 square feet per charge. Despite the compact size, the mower is big on features, with three-in-one grass handling that mulches, discharges grass to the side, or bags grass, depending on your needs. Thanks to the versatile discharge options, you can easily mulch the grass to encourage a healthier lawn or bag the grass for composting or disposal. And once the motor is running, the mower's compact, lightweight design pushes smoothly and swiftly across the lawn, even in tight corners or through heavily landscaped yards.

The Worx Advantage

The WG7775 offers a number of advantages over traditional lawnmowers. Unlike gas mowers, you won't have to hassle with pull starts, worry about mixtures, or trudge to the gas station to refill the gas can. Plus, the mower is quieter than gas mowers and emissions-free, so you can mow the lawn at almost any time of day without irritating the neighbors or disturbing your children's naps. In contrast to traditional electric mowers, users won't have to uncoil and step over an extension cord while mowing the front lawn. And the WG775 is far more efficient and easier to use than push mowers, which often require several passes to mow a tough patch of grass.

Ready, Set, Mow

Mowing the lawn is no longer a chore with the WG775. In addition to the instant-on switch, the mower sports an easy-to-read power level indicator that tells you when the battery needs charging, along with a convenient detachable handle system for quick battery removal. The handlebar also collapses in seconds, so you can store the mower in tight spaces. To help you deal with seasonal grasses, the mower offers quick, one-handed height adjustments, letting you mow tall or short depending on the situation. And the mulching blade is designed to chop up your clippings smaller than standard mower blades.

With the Worx WG775, it's easier, quieter, and cleaner than ever to mow the lawn. Also equipped with an adjustable-height, padded comfort handle, the WG775 mower weighs 32 pounds and carries a two-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

2Dying battery
By George Mount
When I bought this little guy, I sharpened the blade and got it right to work. It cut the grass beautifully and didn't bog down. I have ~3000 square feet and it had no trouble finishing. It takes a few more passes than a larger mower, but it isn't a large yard, so I didn't have a problem with it. I really liked that it was small and didn't take a lot of storage.

Fast forward 9 months. I cannot cut my whole yard without recharging the battery! I've noticed that each time I cut it, the battery lasts a shorter and shorter time.

I also had a problem with the wheel height lock. I set them to the middle and any time I backed even a little (it is kind of hard to turn around without backing just slightly with one wheel) it kicked the wheel to the lowest setting, bringing it off balance. I've since zip-tied the height springs so that they can't stretch and loosen -- it seems to have fixed the problem.

Now what do I do about a battery that won't last 9 months?

5Running strong in third season
By Robert Ingersoll
I am using this mower for the third season and it is still going strong. My yard is pretty small but I cut some tough weeds in the alley and the little Worx mower never flinches. Great maneuverability and ease of operation and maintenance. Charge the battery and sharpen the blade and that's it. I have used it in bagging and mulching mode and both work fine. If the grass is thick and wet, the cut can get a little ragged so I usually go over it twice which is no big deal since the yard is so small.

The only real issue is that the battery charger doesn't always shut off and the battery gets hot when it overcharges. I bought a simple timer that shuts off the charger after .5/3/6 hours - see my other review of the charger.

5It WORX
By Amazonian
Very satisfied with the WORX 775 mower so far, in spite of its lilliputian size. It's so cute and quiet that my eleven year old daughter has even expressed an interest in operating it.

Battery life is a key issue in these electric devices and it remains to be seen how long this one will last, as this will determine total cost of ownership since new batteries can be quite expensive. I am referring to lifetime, not the cycle time or minutes of operation between charging. As far as the latter is concerned, I mowed my one-tennis-court-sized-lawn with two green lights still left on the charge indicator, so I know the mower has plenty of power to get the job done. The battery is a standard lead-acid type, not lithium-ion, the same type of battery as used in most golf carts and GEM electric vehicles.

It was nice to mow the lawn with a machine so light that I did not even work up a sweat.

I've used the mower just once so far, and will update review as necessary.
