This lawn boy replaces a 38 year old 2cycle(mix gas and oil) lawn boy. I surely don't expect this one to last anywhere near as long but it does have a useable warranty, and great features. What I like most about the model 10605 is the blade brake which allows you to walk away from the mower with the engine still running. This feature is usually found on much more expensive mowers. The mower itself is very competant at cutting grass or chewing up small lawn debris.
One pull on the starter gets it going and the governor keeps the engine speed right where it's needed. As soon as you encounter higher grass the engine speed increases.
And the self propelled system works great.

I read a review here complaining about power. This thing has more power than I need, and if I hold down the propel lever all the way it actually pulls me...up hill! I really can't think of a situation where I would need more power.
Couldn't have been easier to setup, take it out of box, add oil which is included, and gas and start it up on first pull. It's so easy to pull the cord and it starts right up. The engine has plenty of power but runs smooth and quit. The levers are easy to use and it propels nicely. I was hesitant about buying after reading the ONE review complaining so loudly about how it doesn't have enough power. With the bargain price, and all the features I was worried it really wouldn't have enough power but took the chance anyway and couldn't be happier. My advice would be if you are looking for a self propelled mower to try this one first.
The bag is on the small side. I don't bag my lawn clippings I mulch but if you bag I thought it might be worth mentioning, might have to empty more often than your current mower.

I've had this mower for a couple of months now and have used it on a weekly basis. I have to say that I am very happy with it to date. It has plenty of power to cut through grass, even if you neglected to cut it for a week and it's longer than it should be. I've had no issues at all using this self propelled mower on hilly areas either.
Another thing to mention is that this mower is fairly quiet, as mowers go. I have no problems hearing people talking to me from several feet away. The blade override system is probably the feature I like the most as I do not need to restart the mower every time I walk away from it. Overall, I am very pleased with the features and the build quality of this mower, and have ansolutely no regrets.
The one thing that people may need pointed out to them is that there is no side discharge on this mower. This is not an issue for me as I mulch most of the times, and bag the rest of the times (if grass got too long). However, it may be an issue for some.
