5Light, strong, and great
By Torrance
I bought this when the price was only $411 (he-he!), and only after the company answered all my questions. The company representative was very helpful, and responded quickly to my questions even on the weekend.

The lawnmower arrived from Amazon quickly and in perfect condition, but the weather was so miserable that I was unable to use the mower for a few weeks. However, once the weather improved, I started the mower up and mowed a lawn section of 100x80, and the battery only went down one charge light. I could have easily done the whole third acre on one charge. The grass was somewhat long and wet, but the mower effortlessly mowed it down. Later, I used the mower to grind up the magnolia leaves I raked from the pachysandra beds. This it did easily and without complaint.

The mower is quite light, does a very nice job at mowing, and the battery charges quickly and lasts longer than I expected. Also, I like the way it looks- kind of reminiscent of a hornet or wasp. The mowing width is narrow, true, but the mower is so strong and light that one can quickly mow a large area. I am pleased with this purchase, especially since I wanted a lithium battery mower like the English have been enjoying. Why that technology took so long to come to the USA is a mystery to me.

5/27/11 Still working wonderfully, no problems, no parts broken. The battery still charges quickly. I noticed that when first started, the mower chimes, perhaps as a warning that the blades are spinning. Though quiet, the mower is not silent, of course, so maybe the chimes are just an 'extra'.

10/19/11 No problems whatsoever. I'm using it for Fall clean-up, grinding maple and magnolia leaves into confetti. Still purrs like a kitten.

4Lightweight mower, arrived broken, unable to locate parts
By Lisa
I am a huge fan and buyer of Amazon products and this mower was offered at $50 lower than Sears or Recharge Mower's own website. Mower is lightweight, portable and features the lithium battery--a big improvement over the original generation of battery operated lawn gear. Strong cutting power even in 4" wet grass, although lawn was sparse, not lush and thick. However, this mower arrived in a wet, damaged box and th left handle housing damaged/defective. I can mow handicapped without it, but why am I spending over $400 for a defective item? Interesting that another reviewer noted the SAME problem with SAME part. Did Amazon buy up these defective mowers & offer them at $50 less than the manufacturer's website?? Makes me wonder. Unable to locate parts anywhere other than cutting blades which leaves me with the option to return this and risk receiving another defective unit or just purchase another brand. Black Decker and Ryobi have readily available parts but they are heavier than boulders-I needed portability. Maybe Recharge Mower is before it's time--too new on our U.S. market to stock parts. Amazon offers no link to parts, no discount for damage, no option but to return. Disappointed!

3Consider a push mower
By BSteely
I read other reviews about this mower arriving damaged during shipping but figured, "I know how this works. Only a small minority of people are affected by such a problem, but they post their comments, so it looks like the problem is bigger than it really is." With the confidence of that logic, I clicked the order button and in two days found the mower on my doorstep. The box looked to be in very good condition. I opened it up and the mower looked to be in good condition, too. That is until I began to unpack and assemble the mower.

There were some loose pieces in the bottom of my box, like the mow height adjustment lever, and also the thin metal bar that connects to the safety switch and which needs to be held against the main grip area to keep the mower running. The assembly instructions made no mention of these parts needing to be attached. On closer inspection I realized both were damaged parts that had broken off. I looked down inside where the mow height adjustment lever was supposed to be connected and could see cracked plastic. Same for the left side attachment point where the metal bar was supposed to be joined to the main handle.

I went back and read a few more reviews on the Amazon site as well as some other review sites. Some people complained the main handle was ripped out of the mower base. I saw where it is attached using only four M4 sheet metal screws, two on each side, screwed into plastic. It wasn't broken on my mower, but neither does it look like it's a very robust part of the design, and I can see how it could be another fail point. And I also saw that some people complained the rubber flap on the back, meant for keeping sticks and rocks from kicking out from under the mower, was prone to breaking off. Sure enough, I could already see evidence of a crack at one of the screw mounting points on my mower. Strike three. I put it all back in the box and sent it back to Amazon.

If you are lucky enough to receive your unit in undamaged condition, and if your lot is billiard table flat, and your lawn as smooth as indoor carpet, this mower may stand up to regular use for you. But if that doesn't describe your lot where you plan to use this mower, I would think twice. Light weight things can be built strong, like racing bicycles for example, but this is one light weight thing which I believe will not stand up well to the kind of service that may be asked of it. It's a shame to have a 10-year battery in a device that will be ready for the landfill after only a couple years because a bunch of other things have broken on it. And the construction of this mower seems to have a few too many deficiencies, in my opinion, that will lead to that. At least that is my opinion after carefully looking it over. Obviously I never used it, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Caveat emptor.

I rethought my needs and picked up a Fiskar Momentum push mower for half the price. It's funny that a push mower should weigh more than a battery powered one, but I can see from its construction that the Fiskar is a durable piece that is going to be around for a long, long time. It's a breeze to push, and for the amount of lawn I have to deal with, I should have just gotten it to begin with.
